Overview
Batticaloa West is one of 17 education zones in Eastern province. It’s is located approximately at a distance of 9 km from Batticaloa town and in South-East region of Batticaloa District. It shares boundary line in East with Batticaloa Zone, in West Polanaruwa district (near to Ampara Zone), in South Paddiruppu Zone and in North Kalkudah Zone. Batticaloa West zone was announced as a sub zone on 12th of November, 2010 and later on 22nd July, 2011, it was officially announced as an individual educational zone with splitting nearly 60 schools from Batticaloa and Paddiruppu.
Administrative building of the zone is located in Kurinchamunai division which is in East region in the zone. Zone is divided in to 3 education division namely Manmunai West, Eravur Pattu and Manmunai South West which are also the three Divisional Secretariat divisions.

- Enhance quality of education by implementing child friendly approach.
- Improve facilities for co-curricular activities.
- Ensure adequate water and sanitation facilities in all the schools.
- Implementing empowered programe for school improvement.
- Empower teacher's capacity through school based proffessinal teacher development.
- Provide services toward SDG.
